Hyères French & Sailing Course for Young Students
(9-11/12-13 years)

French and Sailing in Hyères

With over 12 miles of shallow coastline and sandy beaches, Hyères is an ideal location in which to learn to sail! Our French & Sailing Course for Young Students consists of 20 French lessons/week plus 2 sailing lessons/week. Sailing lessons take place at our sailing school on La Londe Beach, 10km from the campus. The shallow waters of La Londe Beach are perfect for beginners, and sailing lessons take place in monitored waters reserved by our school.

The Campus

French lessons take place on a secure mini-campus with on-site residence. There's a swimming pool, restaurant, tv room and sports fields, plus a free shuttle bus between the campus and our sailing school.

Courses

The course includes 20 French lessons/week with fully-qualified, native French teachers, plus 2 sailing lessons/week and a program of activities and excursions. All our sailing teachers are multilingual and fully qualified. Our young students learn to sail using Hobbi Cat 16 or TYKA boats, with 3-4 students per boat.

9-11 year olds

Students aged 9-11 years are accommodated in on a secure mini-campus, surrounded by a vineyard. There’s a 16m swimming pool, plus TV room, sports grounds, cafeteria and theatre.

Having fun on the beach

12-13 year olds

Students share spacious rooms with 2-3 other students of the same age. Students aged 12-13 years are accommodated on the same campus, or on our school’s second campus, which also has a swimming pool, excellent sports facilities and a cafeteria.

Supervision

Our school provides 24hr supervision, with 1 group leader for every 8 students (9-11 yrs) or 1 group leader for every 12 students (12-13 yrs). A varied program of supervised excursions and activities such as evening barbecues, crêpes parties and theme evenings is included.

Class sizes are small – with a maximum of 15 students/class, our young students receive plenty of individual help and attention. Choose from 1 to 8 week courses running throughout July and August. Please do contact us for more details.

How to get to Hyères

To get to Hyères, fly to Toulon or Nice Airport . If you arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Saturday, you’ll receive a free two-way transfer from Toulon Aiport/Railway Station or Nice Airport . We can also arrange airport transfers on other days, at extra cost – please contact us for details.

Hyères French & Sailing Course for Young Students
(14-17 years)

Learn French in Hyères

Hyères is the perfect place in which to learn to sail or improve your existing skills! The combination of easterly winds in the bay and the westerly Mistral wind make any day a good day for sailing in Hyères! Students aged 14-17 years on our French & Sailing Course for Young Students can choose our ‘gentle sailing’ option (20 French lessons + 2 sailing lessons/week) or our ‘intensive sailing’ option (20 French lessons + 5 sailing lessons/week). Sailing lessons take place on a sandy beach chosen especially for its shallow waters.

The Campus

Our school is located on a mini-campus with on-site residence, swimming pool, restaurant and excellent facilities. We keep our class sizes to a maximum of 15 students, so you’ll receive plenty of individual help and attention during your French course in Hyères! Students taking our gentle sailing option (2 sailing lessons/week) can also request an additional 6 mini-group French lessons/week (maximum of 6 students per class).

Accommodation

Making friends on the course

For total immersion in the French language and culture, you can stay in one of our carefully selected host families in a single or twin room. You’ll have lunch at the school on weekdays, eating your other meals with your host family. Or, stay in one of our on-site residences – both our residences have a swimming pool, excellent sports facilities plus a cafeteria!

The Course

Your course includes a program of activities, plus one day trip/week to locations such as Marseille or the Porquerolles Islands , and one half day trip/week to locations such as Le Castellet and Le Lavandou. There is 1 leader for every 12 students, and written parental permission is required for unsupervised leave from the campus. Choose from 1 to 8 week courses running throughout July and August.
