Costa Adeje is located on Tenerife’s south-western coast and is an elegant town with a relaxed atmosphere, making it an ideal location in which to combine a Spanish course with a holiday. More upmarket than some of its neighbours, although Costa Adeje does attract tourists, the local way of life is certainly not difficult to find. You can be sure of a warm welcome here, as the Tinerfeños are particularly well known for their friendliness and the cuisine is fabulous, with plenty of fresh fish and seafood.
There is no bad time of year to visit Costa Adeje, or Tenerife in general, as the island experiences warm temperatures all year-round. Of course, the island is famous for its beaches, but, perhaps more impressive is the rugged natural landscape, dominated by the extinct volcano El Teide, Spain’s highest mountain.
Our Spanish school in Costa Adeje offers spectacular sea views from its location right next to Playa del Bobo and the school’s lovely terrace is certainly the best place to enjoy these. This is a very small school, usually welcoming around 20 students at any one time, which means you will be well looked after by our friendly colleagues. There are 5 fully air-conditioned classrooms, with wireless Internet access throughout and close to the school you will find plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants, where you can enjoy a meal or a drink with your fellow students after lessons.
We truly believe that the best way to learn a language is to totally immerse yourself in it and to practice speaking as much as possible. This is why all our courses are taught in Spanish from the very beginning and why you will do lots of speaking and listening in your lessons! You will be taught by native speakers who are fully qualified to teach Spanish as a foreign language and, if you already speak some Spanish, you will take a level test on arrival to make sure that you are placed in the correct group for you with students of a similar level. All courses take place from Monday to Friday.
Group courses are the perfect option for most students, as they focus on improving the overall level of Spanish, with an emphasis on the everyday, practical usage of the language. The only difference between the ‘Intensive’ and ‘Super-Intensive’ courses is the number of lessons per week. The ‘Intensive’ course of 20 lessons per week is usually sufficient and leaves plenty of time to enjoy other things, such as activities or just relaxing on the beach! The ‘Super-Intensive’ course is offered for those who wish to make as much progress as possible during the time that they have available.
If you are energetic and want to enjoy all that Costa Adeje has to offer, then why not add some diving or surfing lessons to your course? Or perhaps you have something in particular that you would like to concentrate on? If this is the case, you could add some private lessons to your group course, or take a course of private lessons only.
If you already speak some Spanish, you can actually start your course on any Monday throughout the year at our school in Costa Adeje. There are also very regular start dates for complete beginners (who can typically start twice a month).
As well as your language course, we can also arrange accommodation for you in Costa Adeje, either with a host family, or in a shared apartment.
Both options are very popular amongst our students and, when deciding which option is best for you, there are a few things to consider:
Opportunity to practice Spanish – Of course, if you do want as much practice as possible, the best option is to stay with a host family, as they will encourage you to speak only Spanish with them. If you stay in a shared apartment, you will be staying with international students, so although our colleagues at the school will encourage you to use Spanish as your common language, this may not always be the case.
Meals ¬– If you prefer to be more independent and prepare your own meals, then shared apartment accommodation would suit you best. You will be able to use the shared kitchen to prepare your meals and there is a supermarket very close by where you can purchase your food. Of course, there are also plenty of excellent restaurants in the area where you can sample some of the local cuisine. Host family accommodation can be arranged on a bed and breakfast, half or full board basis and is a great opportunity to live (and eat!) like the locals!
All accommodation is within 10 minutes of the school on foot or by public transport, so you will also be close to the beach, whichever option you choose!
On our courses, learning does not stop the moment you step outside of the classroom. Our school’s fantastic activities programme will help to make sure you practice speaking Spanish as much as possible during your time in Costa Adeje, whether you are enjoying tapas with fellow students and teachers, getting into the rhythm with salsa classes, or taking part in exciting water-sports.
All the activities offered are completely optional and you will, therefore, be free to choose which you take part in. There may be a small charge for activities, but this will usually be to cover costs. As the activities are optional, most will require a minimum number of participants in order to proceed.
Fly into Reina Sofia Airport (Tenerife South). From here, we can arrange an airport transfer, or you can take a bus (no. 111). Please note that as the airport transfer is a private service, there is an additional charge for this.
