Learn Spanish in Costa Rica

Flamingo beach |
Costa Rica is a wonderful location in which to learn Spanish, with an incredibly wide variety of landscapes, climates, animals and vegetation. The untouched mountain rain forests, palm-fringed Pacific and Caribbean beaches, reefs, volcanoes and jungles make this a paradise for nature lovers.
Our schools offer Spanish language courses throughout the year, in Flamingo Beach, Monteverde Mountain Rain Forest, San Joaquin de Flores, San José and Samara Beach.

Learning Spanish in Costa Rica offers students a truly unique experience. Students on Spanish courses at our three schools learn Spanish in small groups, with fully-qualified native Costa Rican tutors. The schools also organise an extensive activities program, consisting of activities, visits and excursions, scuba diving, turtle watching trips, beach barbeques and many more! This cultural program helps students to explore Costa Rica, enjoy themselves and also learn about life and nature in Costa Rica. It also helps students to meet Costa Ricans and practise the Spanish that they learn on their Spanish course, thus enabling students to learn as much Spanish as possible in the time available to them.
Spanish courses in Flamingo Beach, Costa Rica

On-site pool |
Flamingo Beach, with its ivory-white sands and crystal clear waters, is one of the most spectacular beaches in Guanacaste, a province famous for its unspoilt coastline, turtles, reefs, volcanoes, snorkelling and surfing. The climate is hot and sunny throughout most of the year, making Flamingo Beach an incredible location in which to learn Spanish in Costa Rica.
Our school is located just 5 minutes walk from the beach. There are 16 classrooms, a student study/video room, cafeteria and on-site swimming pool. Students are accommodated in host families in the nearby villages of Potrero and Brasilito, or in the studio apartments or hotel rooms, if preferred. The Spanish courses are in 'mini-groups' of a maximum of just 4 students per class. The school is air-conditioned and offers students learning Spanish at the school an extensive optional activities program.

Spanish Courses in Monteverde Mountain Rain Forest

Monteverde Mountain Rain Forest |
The Monteverde Mountain Rain Forest ("Cloud Forest") Reserve is one of the most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries in the tropics. The location is ideal for students who wish to combine the wonders of the rain forest with a first-rate Spanish course. In this unspoilt reserve there are over 100 species of mammals, more than 400 species of birds, 120 species of amphibians and reptiles, an estimated 2,500 plant species, with insect species numbering tens of thousands. At 5,600 feet, the climate is generally cooler than in the Central Valley and at times wet, with temperatures averaging 18-21 degrees Celsius.

Our school in Monteverde has 17 classrooms, video room, cafeteria, computer room and gardens. A wide range of visits and excursions are offered, from forest canopy "sky walks", white water rafting and Costa Rican cookery lessons to Arenal volcano trips. San Joaquin de Flores Image Gallery
Spanish Courses in San Joaquin de Flores

The school - San Joaquín |
San Joaquín de Flores is a prosperous, friendly, middle-class town of around 5,000 people, 17km from San José, where we have another school. The town offers a glimpse of the 'real' Costa Rica and a peaceful setting, within reach of the hustle and bustle of San José. Here students can easily meet "Ticos" (Costa Ricans). This naturally makes learning Spanish easier and more enjoyable.
Our school in San Joaquín has magnificent views over coffee and banana plantations, towards the Barva volcano. There are 17 classrooms, a student cafeteria, as well as a student room with e-mail access.
After lessons, take a leisurely stroll around the beautiful colonial streets of San Joaquín, relax in the sun on the school's terrace, or join other students and teachers on our activities program. Dance the salsa, enjoy film evenings or, if you're feeling adventurous, hike up to Barva volcano.

Salsa lesson at our school in San Joaquin |
This is an excellent base from which to explore the mountain rain forests to the west, as well as the beaches of Guanacaste. Students should consider combining San Joaquín with a stay in Flamingo Beach and/or Monteverde.
