This famous vacation town, for both tourists and Mexicans, is the capital of the Mexican state Morelos, located just an hour away from Mexico City. Cuernavaca is lively, friendly and colourful, especially at the weekends when a large number of visitors arrive from Mexico City to getaway, or to enjoy the nightlife.
There are beautiful parks, gardens and plazas in the town, as well as many local historic and cultural attractions. There are waterfalls, water parks and spas and in the heart of the city, by the central plaza and palace, you will find dancers, acrobats, musicians and countless stores selling handicrafts! Needless to say, for true Mexican food this is also a fantastic place to stay!
You can eat Tacos and Pozoles every day in Cuernavaca, in one of the many cafes and restaurants in the town centre!
Our school is located in the centre of Cuernavaca in a beautiful house. The Spanish classes take place outside in the private garden, beside the pool and under the shade of the palm trees. The school is small and the staff are extremely friendly, so you’ll soon feel relaxed and at ease – ready to take advantage of learning Spanish and enjoying all of the nearby attractions in your free time! There is free internet access and fresh food available to buy from the school kitchen during the week for those who wish to take lunch on site. There are also very many bars, cafes and restaurants close to the school.
The group Spanish course at our school consists of 25 group lessons each week in groups of no more than 5 students! Students therefore receive a lot of personal attention which really helps them to improve their Spanish in a short amount of time. After an introduction chat on your arrival you will be placed in the correct class according to your language level and all levels, including beginners, can start on any Monday of the year. We also offer Private Spanish Classes at our school in Cuernavaca for students who prefer this option.
You can opt to stay in the school’s residence accommodation if you would like to be as close to the school as possible and to live with other students. There are 10 dorms in the school building, but availability is always very limited, so you must book well in advance. Breakfast is available in the residence building and there is a kitchen for students to use to cook meals. You can choose a single or shared room and there are private and shared bathrooms.
Mexicans are known for their open, friendly nature and their hospitality, so if you opt to stay with a host family then you will soon feel at home and you will get to experience true home-cooked Mexican food as well! This is a great way to really get to know the people and the city and to have the chance to practise your Spanish as much as possible outside of your classes. All of the host families are carefully selected by the Accommodations Officer at the school and they all have years of experience in housing international students.
Our school prides itself on its weekly programme of activities and excursions that will help you to truly get to know the Mexican way of life and to thoroughly enjoy every moment of your stay! There are so many things to do and see in and around Cuernavaca!
Aside from lectures and intercambios offered every 2 weeks, the school also arranges Salsa classes, Mexican cooking classes, films and excursions on Saturdays or Sundays, as well as regular excursions over the whole weekend to many places of interest nearby such as to the beaches of Acapulco, to Guadalajara, to Chiapas and Guanajuato, as well as many more.
