Provençal life revolves around two things: the market, and the dining table! Aix-en-Provence has two Grands Marchés, which take place three times a week. At the markets in Place des Prêcheurs and Place de la Madeleine, you’ll see top chefs and housewives alike buying produce, talking, and refining recipes. The Aixois are proud of their regional specialities, and are happy to give advice, so if you’re not sure how something will taste, or how to prepare it, just ask! On our French and Cookery Course, you’ll learn how to combine simple, fresh ingredients and Provençal herbs in delicious recipes you’ll be using for years to come!
Your gastronomy lessons will take place in the afternoons, after morning the French classes. You’ll learn about Provençal gastronomy, local products, try wines from the region, and learn the corresponding vocabulary.
If you like straightforward, uncomplicated food, then try this course! Provençal cookery at its best is quite simple, combining fresh produce with the right herbs and flavourings. You’ll find the recipes you learn on this course are easily to reproduce once you return home.
