Portuguese cuisine in Lisbon

Portuguese cuisine is unlike any other, combining as it does so many tastes and flavours. Portuguese cooks use a wide variety of spices, including piri-piri and saffron. When it comes to desserts, the Portuguese really have a sweet tooth! Rich egg-based desserts seasoned with cinnamon and vanilla are very popular, as are home-made almond and fig sweets. Our Portuguese and Cookery Course is a very practical introduction to Portuguese cuisine, from visiting the market and selecting ingredients, to preparation, cooking and of course eating and enjoying the food!

Our course starts with a trip to the Wednesday market to buy ingredients - you'll learn how to select the best produce, and have the opportunity to practise the Portuguese you have learnt in class! The second day of your course is a day of preparations! In Portuguese cooking, much of the food is chopped and prepared for cooking one day in advance, to allow the seasoning to penetrate the food. On the last day of your course, you'll prepare the meal with your teacher, and then taste it after class!

If you're willing to try new taste combinations, and you have an elementary level of Portuguese or above, then this is the course for you!
