If you decide to learn German at our Freiburg (Munsterplatz) school, your German course will take place within a stone’s throw of the city’s historic university, which was founded in the 15th Century! In an important wine-producing area on the edge of the Black Forest, there is always something going on in Freiburg! Particular highlights of the calendar include wine markets and traditional Christmas markets, as well as the International Zelt-Musik Festival and the Alemannic Fasnacht Carnival. This carnival usually takes place on Shrove Tuesday, and is very typical of the area. Usually this festival involves wonderfully decorated floats and costumes, with locals often donning masks and playing jokes on one another!
Our Freiburg (Munsterplatz) school is situated on a charming square, which is home to several cafes and restaurants. The school itself offers excellent facilities for students, including 8 bright classrooms, a comprehensive library, a computer room, wireless Internet access throughout, a cafeteria and a spacious summer terrace!
We have a great deal of experience in advising students on German language courses, and therefore we understand that there are many reasons for students to wish to study German. This is why we offer such a wide variety of courses. You may just wish to improve your overall level, in which case the ‘Intensive’ course of 20 group lessons per week should be sufficient. If you wish to tailor the course to meet your specific requirements, then a course of private lessons would be the best choice for you. We also offer ‘Intensive Plus’ courses of group and one-to-one tuition, which could offer you the best of both worlds! If you have any questions at all, or require any advice on which course would be the best choice for you, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Without a doubt, the best accommodation option for those wishing to maximise their exposure to the language, and to give themselves as much opportunity as possible to practice speaking German on an everyday basis with native speakers is host family accommodation. Your hosts will welcome you into their home, and will encourage you to converse with them in German as much as possible. All host families are very carefully selected, and we usually find that the vast majority of students have very positive experiences of this accommodation option.
However, you may prefer to stay a little more independently. If this is the case, then you may like to consider student residence or guesthouse accommodation. Please contact us if you have any questions at all about our accommodation options in Freiburg.
When learning a foreign language, it is not only important to learn the vocabulary and grammar, but it is also very important to gain an understanding of the culture, and of the people with whom you wish to converse! This is one of the reasons that our school offers a cultural activities programme. It is also a fantastic way of getting to know your fellow students, and practice German outside of the classroom! Our school offers a wide range of activities, examples of which include guided tours of the city; sports such as canoeing, football and climbing; and excursions to places such as the Black Forest, Kaiserstuhl, and the Alsace.
