Learn Greek on one of our Greek courses in Athens or Crete! Greek is a fantastic language to study, as it is the oldest documented Indo-European language, dating back over 34 centuries! Ancient Greece was, of course, the birthplace of science, medicine, philosophy and literature, and, as such, the language has itself left its mark on many European languages. In fact, the roots of many scientific and medical words are derived from the Greek language!
By learning Greek, you are not only learning a rich, vibrant language of today, you are also getting a glimpse into Greek culture and how it has influenced countless other languages and cultures around the world! It is Modern Standard Greek that is taught on most of our courses at our schools in Athens and Crete. However, if you are particularly interested in studying Ancient Greek, we do also offer this as an option at our school in Athens.
Courses can be arranged throughout the year, and are suitable for students of all nationalities and all levels (from complete beginner to advanced).
Our Greek language schools are located in the historic capital, Athens and the charming city of Chania on Crete’s northern coast.
Of course, whichever location you choose, you can be sure that you will be taught by native speakers, who hold both a university degree and a qualification in teaching Greek as a foreign language. Group sizes are always small, in order to provide each student with the individual attention required to make as much progress as possible during the time available.
Group courses do tend to be the most popular option as they aim to improve students’ overall level of Greek. Please note that our schools in Greece are small and so if you are the only student of your particular level, the school will offer you a reduced number of private lessons.
Hotel and shared apartment accommodation is offered in both locations. Our school in Athens also offers host family accommodation, which is a great option linguistically and also offers a unique insight into the local culture.
