Do you want to learn French, but would like to do so in a location that offers sunshine, crystal blue seas, and stunning sandy beaches? Perhaps a location that offers a vibrant, unique culture, yet still feels ‘French’ appeals to you? Then why not take a French course in Guadeloupe? This Caribbean idyll is actually an overseas department of France, and is therefore an integral part of the French nation, despite being nearly 7000 km from Paris!
Guadeloupe is also an excellent location for those interested in French literature, as it has been home to several authors, including Maryse Condé and Saint-John Perse. There is also an energetic music and art scene in Guadeloupe, with artists often drawing inspiration from their magnificent surroundings!
Our school in Guadeloupe is located in Sainte-Anne. On one of the two main islands, Grande Terre, Sainte-Anne truly is a paradise. By learning French here, you will not only experience the warm welcome and animated culture, but you will also have plenty of time to relax on the spectacular beach, or swim in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea!
The ‘Intensive’ course of 20 lessons per week is an excellent option if you are looking to improve your overall level of French. As you will have four lessons each day, you will still have half the day free to explore your beautiful surroundings, and practice speaking French with the friendly islanders. If you wish to focus on a particular aspect of French, then adding some private lessons to your group course, or taking a course of just private lessons would allow you to do this.
The best way to improve your French is to practice speaking with native speakers as much as possible. By staying with a host family, you will have plenty of opportunity for this. You will find that your hosts will encourage you with your French, and you will also gain a unique insight into the local culture! Alternatively, if you would prefer to live more independently and prepare your own meal, then studio apartment accommodation would be the best option for you.
