There really is no better place to learn Italian than in beautiful, romantic Italy. At Language Courses Abroad, we have a passion for all things Italian, be it the food, the language, the art, the music or the culture! Some members of our team are Italian, others have studied it as a foreign language, and many others visited Italy several times! Italy has a fantastically rich culture, and learning the language provides you with a deeper understanding of this. Italians themselves are so friendly and welcoming, and really appreciate when others make the effort to learn their language. They will do their best to encourage you, and are always more than happy to tell you more about themselves, their region and their country!
Our Italian courses are all high quality, total immersion courses. You will be taught in Italian from the outset by native Italian speakers, who have both a university degree and a qualification in teaching Italian as a foreign language. They know how to make the language learning process effective, but also enjoyable!
Our Italian language schools are located throughout Italy, so you can learn the language in world-famous Venice in the north, or as far south as Taormina, in historic Sicily.
We select the schools we work with extremely carefully, and all meet our very strict criteria. This includes small group sizes, modern teaching techniques, and fully-qualified native Italian-speaking teachers. As well as the Italian course, our Italian schools also offer an extensive cultural program of excursions and activities. We hope that you will not only learn as much Italian as possible whilst you are studying with us, but also that you will thoroughly enjoy the experience and want to repeat it. Certainly, you learn a language much better when you are happy on your course and enjoying your stay!
Our courses run all year-round and you will be learning Italian with people of all nationalities, but with the same level of Italian as you. We also find that as students are all interested in the language, the culture and the country as a whole, everyone gets on extremely well, and usually return home with not only a higher level of Italian, but also friends from all over the world! You can study Italian for just one week or for a whole year, depending on the time you have available, and you can usually start your Italian language course on any Monday.
A group course is the perfect option if you are looking to improve your overall level of Italian with students of a similar level to yourself. As courses follow a ‘communicative’ method, you will find that there is an overall emphasis on the everyday, practical usage of the language (and so there will be lots of speaking and listening), although, you will cover all aspects of the language.
Private lessons are offered by all schools for students who need to concentrate on a specific aspect of the language, or who require a personalised timetable.
Several of our schools offer the opportunity to combine an activity with Italian lessons, such as ‘Italian and Cookery’ courses. Without a doubt, Italy has some of the best food in the world! Each region has its own, unique dishes, and all are exquisite! At several of our schools in Italy it is possible to take an Italian Cookery course at the same time as your language courses. On these cookery courses, you will not only have the opportunity to practice Italian outside of the classroom, but you will also be taught how to cook delicious, authentic Italian food and have a great deal of fun at the same time. In many cases, the course is followed by a meal with the tutor, at which students eat the food that they helped to cook!
All adult students are welcome to attend any of the courses mentioned above. However, some of our schools also offer special ‘Club 50+’ courses for students aged 50 years and over. These programmes combine Italian lessons with cultural activities.
We always recommend host family accommodation as the best accommodation option linguistically. All the host families are carefully selected by our schools, to provide a comfortable, friendly and welcoming environment. More independent accommodation options include shared apartments, student residences, hotels and studio apartments.
