Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for writing content for our websites, newsletters and press releases. This content will relate to language courses abroad at our partner language schools throughout the world.
The position also requires the candidate to work as part of the sales team, assisting with sales enquiries and advising clients as regards the language courses that we offer.
The person appointed should have excellent writing skills and will be shown how to write copy in such a way as to achieve high website rankings in Google and other search engines. They should also have a genuine interest in languages and travel. As part of our Sales team, they will gain experience of Internet marketing.
As part of their training, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to travel to some of the locations in Europe in which we offer language courses.
Remuneration
Starting salary: £17k per annum.
Principal Tasks
- Writing content for our websites and newsletters.
- Assist the sales team with enquiries as a language travel advisor.
- Contribute ideas concerning the marketing of our courses.
- Develop relationships with Journalists and Media to help promote our language courses.
- Occasional travel abroad to visit our schools.
Training
The successful candidate will undergo an initial Induction/Training period of 12 months after appointment, on full pay.
During this period, the person appointed will need to become familiar with the courses we offer, our in-house databases and booking and payment systems, as well as visit some of our study abroad locations
Full training will be given.
No knowledge of websites, or previous experience of Internet marketing is required but any knowledge will be favorable for your application.
The successful candidate can expect to make 1 or 2 trips abroad during this initial 12-month period to visit several of our study abroad locations as well as various of our partner schools.
During their training, in addition to being trained to write good content for our websites and assist clients with their enquiries, they will be required, as are all Language Travel Advisors, to assist with general office duties, which may include processing payments, sending students’ flight details to schools, inputting data, and other associated tasks.
As they become more familiar with our courses and schools, during the initial 12 month period, they may be asked, on occasions, to help in each of the separate departments within the company.
The principal sections within the company are:
- Sales (direct communication with clients by e-mail/telephone)
- School Liaison and Payments Section
- Website Production, Marketing and IT Systems Development
Following this 12-month induction period, the successful candidate will be a fully trained Language Travel Advisor/Website Content Writer.
As a fully trained Language Travel Advisor/Website Content Writer, the successful candidate will be encouraged to further develop their skills and abilities in order to achieve their full potential within the company.
Associated Tasks
The successful candidate may, on occasion, be asked to:
- Visit more of our partner schools abroad, in order to become familiar with our product
- Attend conferences/exhibitions/fairs, in this country and abroad, when required
- Participate in and contribute to discussions regarding the marketing of our products/design of our websites, brochures, posters, flyers and other publicity, as well as regarding improvements to our procedures and systems.
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Excellent writing skills.
- A university degree in journalism or related subject, or other Higher Education.
- A high degree of attention to detail.
- A friendly, sociable and enthusiastic personality, willing and able to work as part of a team and to establish excellent relationships with work colleagues.
- All applicants should be computer literate, familiar with common software packages, such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
Working Hours:
Language Travel Advisors work a 40-hour week.
These hours will be worked between our normal opening hours of 08.00 – 19.00. A typical working day will be from 08.00 – 16.00, 09.00 – 17.00 or 11.00 – 19.00 hours. You will also be required to work up to 2 Saturdays per month, for which you can take a day off during the week, as time off in lieu.
Holidays
All full time employees are entitled to 20 days holiday per year. You will not be required to work bank holidays.
