Learn German at our school in Lindau's historic 1000 year old island centre - less than 2600 people live on the island, so our students find it easy to practise German with the locals, who are known for their traditional Bavarian hospitality!

One thing our students love about this location is the lake, and our school is right on Lindau's harbour. In summer, you can spend your afternoons cooling off in the clear waters of the lake, or walking in the Alps. In winter, you can join the locals skating on the frozen Kleiner See between Lindau and the mainland, or you can ski in nearby resorts such as Oberstdorf and St Anton.

Our School in Lindau

Our school is located in an historic building right on the harbour, with great views of Lake Constance and the Alps. There are 6 comfortable classrooms, a school cafeteria serving snacks, library, media room and school cinema. The school also has a terrace, which is a favourite with our students at break time! All our teachers are fully-qualified, native German speakers.

Our most popular German course in Lindau is the Standard Course, which comprises 20 lessons/week. This course is intensive enough to ensure good progress, whilst leaving plenty of time to enjoy the lake and the Alps! We also offer an Intensive Course (25 lessons/week), and special interest courses including One-to-One courses, Work Experience and German for Young Students. Don't forget, we keep our adult class size to just 11 students, so you'll receive plenty of individual help and attention.

Our Long Term Standard and Long Term Intensive courses include a weekend trip to Munich.

Accommodation in Lindau

You can choose from a range of accommodation options in Lindau.To really immerse yourself in the language, we recommend staying with one of our carefully-selected host families. This way, you'll experience Bavarian family life and culture, as well as having the opportunity to practise German at mealtimes. All our host families live within 15 minutes of the school by foot, bus or bike. Cycling is a great way to get around the island - and hiring a bike couldn't be easier! Just ask at our school's reception about discounted bike hire.

If you like, you can share with other students in our school's high quality student residence. Less than 5 minutes' walk from the school, the student residence is equipped with satellite TV, telephone, Internet access, washing machine and a large fully equipped shared kitchen and dining room.

German & Skiing

From December to April during the ski season, you can improve your skiing or snowboarding during your German course in Lindau!

Lindau is within an easy day-trip of top ski resorts such as Oberstdorf in Germany and St Anton in Austria, and our school will be pleased to advise you on ski hire and transport. read more

Our school also organises a 'Winter Tag' twice a month during the ski season, when you can try out snowshoes and tobogganing in the Alps!

How to get there

The best way to get to Lindau is to fly to Friedrichshafen Airport (daily flights from London Stansted). We can arrange an airport transfer for you. Alternatively, fly to Zurich, Munich or Stuttgart Airport and take the train to Lindau, or request an airport transfer.

Lindau Course for Young Students
(13-17 years)

Lindau’s safe, pedestrianised island centre is particularly suitable for our younger students. Our German Summer School for Young Students runs from June to mid-August and has 6 comfortable classrooms, a lounge/café and school cinema. There are 20 German lessons/week, a daily activity program, one half day and one full day excursion/week, plus a two-day trip to Munich. Our students stay in twin room accommodation in one of our carefully selected host families - full board (3 meals/day) is included. All activities are fully supervised, and students are subject to a curfew agreed between parents and our school. Please request our brochure, or contact us for futher details.
