Our school is situated in stylish Bloomsbury, in central London and is a large, modern school, housed in an impressive 100-year old building just opposite Russell Square. The school is equipped with the latest facilities, learning materials and resources to help you to make the most out of your English course. There are 56 classrooms – most with interactive whiteboards, a self-access study centre, student cafeteria serving hot and cold meals, computer room and free WiFi access, a library and a digital language laboratory. The school also has a garden on the roof, for students to relax in between classes!
There is a maximum of just 12 students in the group classes, ensuring a high standard of teaching with a great deal of individual attention. The most popular, general English courses are designed to enable students to communicate well and with confidence in all kinds of everyday scenarios, with a great deal of focus on speaking and listening skills. Please note that there are specific start dates for complete beginners.
You can choose an Intensive or a Super-Intensive general group course of either 20 or 28 lessons per week and you will still have plenty of time to join all of the activities and excursions available at the school. The Super-Intensive course is ideal for more ambitious learners, or for students who perhaps have limited time to stay in London. No matter the length of your course, on completion of the general English classes you will have a greater understanding of the grammatical structure of the language, increased confidence and fluency when speaking and you will have further developed your skills in reading, writing and listening.
Choose to add some Private Classes to your group course, if you would like some extra individual classes to reinforce what you have learned, or to concentrate on specific aspects or areas of the English language.
For any student who already has at least an intermediate level of English and who requires language skills to use in the workplace, or to further their career opportunities, then the Business English course is an ideal choice. This course combines 20 general English classes in the mornings with 8 English for Business classes in the afternoons, each week and covers a wide range of topics, such as managing business meetings, leading presentations, using the telephone and compiling reports. For more mature business professionals there is a specialised programme of 20 classes per week in smaller groups of just 5 students maximum. This is an opportunity to network with other professionals from all over the world.
Exam Preparation Courses for the internationally recognised Cambridge exams are also offered for students at our London Russell Square school. Please check the exam dates and course start dates with us if you are interested in this programme.
Long-term students who need to reach a high level of fluency in the English language by the end of their language course can benefit from our Academic Year course! This is ideal for students on a gap year or for general help and support in planning your further studies, entry to university, or your career path! There is a wide choice of study modules to ensure a complete learning experience.
Our school is located centrally in London, within easy access to all other parts of the city! You can choose to stay with an English host family, or in a student residence.
Students always appreciate staying with a host family for the chance to constantly practise their English in their free time, with native speakers! There are also a few executive host families, offering students private bathroom facilities, rather than a shared bathroom. Stay with a host family in London to really get to know the British culture and way of life! You have the choice between half-board or breakfast only and all bed linen and towels are provided. As our school is so centrally located, the host families live on average 45-60 minutes from the school by public transport.
The school offers residential accommodation in a few different residence buildings in London for students who would prefer more independence during their stay. There is an on-site residence available to a small number of students, where the bathrooms are shared and the meals are served in the cafeteria at the school. There are also high quality en-suite rooms located in another building approximately 20 minutes walk from the school and these are self-catering, with a well-equipped kitchen and living area for each 5 or 6 bedrooms. Alternatively, there is also a summer residence building available on a self-catering basis which is divided into apartments of 5-8 bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. This residence is also within walking distance of the school.
There is an exciting social and culture programme offered at the school to help ensure that you thoroughly enjoy your stay and make the most of all that the capital city has to offer! Regular activities in the programme include walking tours around London and other events to welcome students, such as pub evenings, student parties and boat trips! There are also organised museum visits, football matches, talent contests and evenings of theatre and music.
Weekend excursions offer you the chance to explore the rest of the UK and these are available through the school, to cities such as Cambridge, Oxford, Canterbury, Brighton and to Stonehenge! If you are interested in travelling further then you also have the chance, depending on the length of your stay, to visit Paris, Amsterdam, Germany or Scotland! Whatever your interests or however you would like to spend your free time in London, the staff at the school will be more than happy to help and advise you and provide all the best tips and tricks!
Our school can arrange transportation to meet you and to take you to your accommodation on your arrival in the UK. However, the transfers are not included in the cost of your English course.
