Madrid offers a wonderful mixture of cafes, restaurants, shops, arts, sport, culture, history and nightlife which any other city in the world would find hard to rival. Also, Spanish is spoken here with no strong regional accent or dialect, making it an excellent choice for anyone who wants to learn Spanish. To top it all, Madrid is situated right in the centre of Spain, making this an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the country.
Our Madrid (Retiro Park) school is located in a beautiful building, in a tree-lined avenue, right in the centre of Madrid, just 3 minutes’ walk from the famous ‘Retiro Park’. This is a central, but also very ‘chic’ area of Madrid, with expensive apartments, excellent shops, cafes and restaurants. The school has 23 air-conditioned classrooms, an Internet café, library and student common room/cafeteria.
By far the most popular course offered by our Madrid Retiro Park school is the ‘Intensive’ course, which consists of 20 lessons per week. Lessons take place every day from Monday to Friday, so on this course you will have four lessons per day. You will, therefore, normally have half of the day free to take part in activities, or to explore Madrid! This course should offer you the perfect balance between lessons and being able to practice what you have learnt in every day, practical situations.
Of course, if you only have a short time available to take the course and need to make as much improvement as possible, you may wish to make more than 4 lessons per day. If this is the case, then you may like to consider either the ‘Super-Intensive’ course of 30 group lessons, or the ‘Intensive + Private Lessons’ course of 20 group + 5 private lessons per week. We also offer a course of 20 private lessons per week if you do want to focus on something very specific.
If you are planning on taking the DELE Exam, our ‘DELE Exam Preparation’ course will help you to focus on both improving your general level and making sure that you are tutored in the specific skills examined.
These courses are all suitable for students aged 17 years and over and there really is no maximum age limit. However, if you are aged over 50 years and would prefer to study exclusively with students of a similar age, then why not take our ‘Club 50+’ course, which combines Spanish lessons with an exclusive activities programme!
If you require accommodation, we can arrange a carefully selected host family, or a shared apartment for you. We always recommend host family accommodation, as you will be welcomed into the home of native speakers with whom you can practice speaking Spanish as much as you like! You can stay on a half board or full board basis.
If you would rather self-cater, we also offer shared apartment accommodation. You will have your own room and will share the kitchen, bathroom and general living facilities with your flatmates.
Please note that, at this school, shared rooms are only available for two students travelling together.
Our school in Madrid offers a variety of optional activities, all of which are conducted in Spanish, to give you further practice! Some activities will incur an additional charge, which is payable directly to the school and our colleagues will let you know on arrival what they will be offering and what the charges are (if any). Just to give you an idea, some examples of activities include Spanish culture lessons, guided visits to museums, evenings out and full-day excursions to places such as Toledo or Segovia.
Madrid has its own airport which is well served by international flights. Airport transfers from and to Madrid Airport are available, although please note that this service is not included in the course price, please contact us for details.
