The capital city of Spain and, therefore, one of the most important cities in the Spanish-speaking world, Madrid is always an extremely popular choice of location amongst our students. Added to this, the Spanish spoken in Madrid is considered to be quite ‘pure’ (i.e. with no strong regional accent or dialect), which also makes it very attractive to those learning Spanish.
Of course, there is plenty to see and do in Madrid, including world-class museums and art galleries, fantastic shopping, incredible nightlife and, of course, must-see historical monuments including the iconic Palacio Real.
The school is very centrally located, just 5 minutes’ walk from Plaza de España and close to two metro stations, providing easy links to the rest of the city. The school is housed in a very modern, two-storey building and is a large school offering 40 spacious classrooms. The school has both central heating and air-conditioning, as well as a lovely patio, computer lab, fully-equipped library with DVDs and common room.
Improve your overall level of Spanish with an ‘Intensive’ course of 20 group lessons per week. Your lessons could take place either in the mornings or in the afternoons, as your exact schedule will be determined by the group that you are placed in on arrival.
If you would like a more intensive course, the ‘Super-Intensive’ course could be for you. On this course you will have 20 general Spanish lessons, plus 5 culture lessons and 5 conversation workshops.
If you require Spanish for your work, our ‘Business Spanish’ course may be of interest to you, as it focuses specifically on the language required within a business environment.
Alternatively, we also offer private lessons, which are always an excellent choice if there is something very specific on which you wish to concentrate during your time in Madrid.
Stay with a carefully selected host family, in a student residence, or in a shared apartment.
Host family accommodation tends to be the most universally suitable accommodation as you will be housed in a native Spanish-speaker’s home and so you will be able to practice your language skills and get to know the locals more easily during your stay! Our colleagues at the school select the host families extremely carefully and visit them regularly, to ensure that the accommodation remains of a suitable standard for hosting international students.
Shared apartment and student residence accommodation does tend to be more basic, although still comfortable. These are the best options if you wish to share the living areas with other international students, whilst having a little more independence. The majority of students who stay in shared apartments and student residences in Madrid are under the age of 30.
Our Plaza de Espana school in Madrid offers students a cultural and activities programme each week. Examples of typical activities arranged include visits to museums and gardens, guided tours of areas of the city and tapas tours. Please note that there may be a small additional charge payable directly to the school to cover costs. On arrival our colleagues will inform you with regards to the exact activities offered during your time at the school.
Fly into Madrid Airport. From here it will be very easy to reach your accommodation by public transport, or, alternatively, we can arrange an airport transfer (please note that there is an additional charge for this service).
