Not only can you still sit outside in the café terraces during the autumn months, but Montpellier is a cosmopolitan, university city with a large student population and an abundance of events, festivals and other attractions, catering for all tastes and interests. The mountains of Provence are close by, as well as Avignon and the Roman city of Nîmes, so you will want to explore the surroundings of Montpellier as well as discovering the historic city centre.
The school is ideally located in the pedestrianised old town, looking out over La Place de la Comédie – often described as France’s most stylish central square – surrounded by cafés, boutiques, restaurants and monuments.
The school building is recently renovated and has 3 floors, 20 spacious classrooms with audiovisual equipment, a library, free WiFi internet access, drinks machines for hot and cold beverages and a mini tourist information office! The highly qualified and motivated teachers at our school use modern teaching methods with focus on the development of communication skills, so that students are able to use the language in all kinds of real-life situations.
There is a large selection of French courses to choose from, starting on any Monday of the year, or on the first Monday of the month for complete beginners of French. There are just 10 students maximum per class.
The Intensive French Course consists of 20 lessons per week and is the most popular programme, covering all aspects of the language and the 4 language skills: speaking, writing, listening and reading. The Super-Intensive course builds on the Intensive programme, with an additional 10 group lessons per week, for students who would like to consolidate their knowledge and to make fast progress.
There is also a course combining 20 group classes per week with private tuition, which is an ideal option for students with specific needs or who require extra classes for personal or professional purposes. The content for the private classes is the students’ choice and will be discussed and arranged in advance with your teachers. For students who are looking for an entirely individual programme, then of course it is possible to book Private tuition only, with as many classes per day as you wish.
Our school also offers a Business French course, from 1 to 4 weeks in duration, ideally suited to professionals and students who wish to acquire French language skills for use in their job or career. This course consists of 20 general lessons plus 6 specific French for Business lessons each week. The course is only available to students who already have an intermediate level of French, or higher.
For students approaching their A-levels in French we offer a special A-level revision course, as well as other exam preparation courses for example: for the DELF/DALF exams, or for students preparing for the Chamber of Commerce of Paris exams. Please ask for further details and specific start dates.
For all cooking enthusiasts there is a special French Cooking course in Montpellier, designed around the Intensive programme with 5 additional cooking classes on 2 days per week with a French chef. You will not only learn about techniques in French cooking, but also a great appreciation of the culinary passion of this abundant nation!
Whatever type of French course you are interested in; our Montpellier school has a programme to suit your needs! There is a full cultural programme to compliment all language courses and a large choice of accommodation.
For a true insight into daily life, for getting to know the local people and for the opportunity to practise as much French as possible, you are welcome to stay with a French host family during your stay in Montpellier! The host families are carefully selected by the school´s Accommodation Officer and can be single people, a couple, or a family with children. You have the option of choosing breakfast included, or half-board. Alternatively, our school can arrange self-catering accommodation with a French host, if you would prefer to have use of the kitchen to prepare your own meals.
There is an onsite student residence with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities, which is the ideal choice for those who wish to live together with other international students. Single or shared rooms are available and all rooms have WiFi.
In the summer months of July and August we also offer onsite accommodation in a shared apartment. The rooms all have a private bathroom and students have the use of the student facilities, such as restaurant and laundry room. There are many cafes and restaurants close by.
For students seeking total independence, there are also private studios apartments available with private bathrooms and kitchens, as well as free WiFi access.
The school in Montpellier offers a weekly cultural programme, packed with things to see and do in your free time! Aside from many events held at the school, such as welcome drinks, farewell parties, French lifestyle workshops, international cooking events and poetry contests, there are also visits to city festivals, live music events and other cultural events throughout Montpellier. There are picnics at the beach or in the countryside, evenings out, city tours and sporting activities also! Excursions take place regularly to locations further away, such as to the Roman city of Nimes, to the traditional fishing harbour of Sète and to historical Avignon!
You can fly into Montpellier airport and take public transport to get to your accommodation. Alternatively we can arrange an airport transfer, although this is not included in the course price.
