Munich is the largest city in Bavaria and the third largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg. It is one of Germany’s most popular destinations with a lot to offer students of all ages and interests! Munich is a green city with very many different parks and beautiful open spaces in the city centre. The biggest and most popular park is the ‘Englisher Garten’, which spreads out over 3.7 square kilometres and offers picnic areas, jogging routes, bridle-paths, surfing on the standing wave in the artificial river, a nudist area, lakes and a Japanese tea-house, amongst many other attractions!
The city lies on the edge of the Alps and is a perfect place from which you can discover this beautiful part of Germany. Study German during the famous ‘Oktoberfest’ and you will be able to sample the local beers in true Bavarian style! There are numerous other festivals and events throughout the year, including the magical and enchanting Christmas Market in December. Whether you are interested in arts and literature, sports activities, museums and galleries, nightlife or fine wining and dining, Muenchen is a welcoming, modern and friendly city with plenty of things to see and do, enabling you to thoroughly enjoy your stay and your German language course!
Our school is located in west Munich, just a short ride by public transport from the centre of the city, close to the university and a popular student area and not far from the English Garden. There are 10 classrooms, a large common room and a multi-media centre with learning materials, resources and facilities to enhance your language course and your personal learning experience. There is a cafeteria serving snacks and drinks in the mornings to power students up before their classes! The school has free WiFi connection throughout the building, in addition to its very own on-site residence accommodation for utmost convenience during your stay!
The Intensive German course consists of 24 group lessons per week and is the ideal course to take in order improve your knowledge of all aspects of the language, including listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and pronunciation. Students with some previous German knowledge can start on any Monday and you can study for as many weeks as you like, with reduced fees for any course longer than 12 weeks in duration! The highly qualified and experienced teachers will help you to make as much progress as possible and to reach your goals with the help of a wide-range of learning material and interactive classes.
The Intensive Course with Private Tuition provides 24 group classes plus an additional 5 private German lessons each week and allows students to focus on particular aspects of the language that they wish to improve in. You have the chance to really identify your own needs in the one-to-one lessons and at the same time you will benefit from the diversity of communication in your group classes.
We also offer an Exam Preparation Course for students of a C1 level or above, who are considering further education or a career in Germany and who wish to take the TestDaF examination. This is an advanced German qualification which covers levels B2 to C1 of the six-level scale of competence set out in the Common European Framework of Reference. The TestDaF exam is a language qualification that facilitates admission to a university and is recognized by every university in Germany. Our tutors will offer their expert advice and experience, in 20 specific group classes per week, enabling you to understand all components of the exam for a successful result at the end of this 4-week programme.
If you would like to build on your professional experience and linguistic knowledge in the working German world, then we offer a Work Experience Programme in collaboration with our school in Munich. This programme is available to all applicants aged 22 years and above, who would like to further their communication skills, language knowledge and business experience in a German working environment. Your internship should be directly related to your choice of career or your further studies and will provide an excellent stepping stone to the professional job of your choice. Students need to complete a minimum of 6 weeks of the Intensive German Course and must have reached at least a B2 level of German to apply for the Work Experience.
German host families
Experience the true German way-of-life whilst living with a host family in Munich and having the invaluable chance to practise your language skills on a daily basis. You can opt for room only, breakfast or half-board and the families are all located between 30 and 60 minutes from the school by public transport.
On-site student residence
The school’s own residence is a large building where you will have a private room and share the common areas and a fully-equipped kitchen not only with other international students, but often with German student interns and trainees as well! There are plenty of shops and amenities right on the doorstep and the residence offers daily cleaning of the common areas, in addition to laundry facilities, a vending machine for refreshments, table tennis room, a basement party room and of course free wireless internet access. There is a refrigerator and a sink in each of the bedrooms and each floor has shower and WCs, as well as 2 fully-equipped kitchens.
Private studio apartments
For your own privacy as well as en-suite facilities during your stay you can choose private apartment accommodation.
In order to be able to see at a glance all of the possibilities that you have in Munich and the surroundings for leisure, culture, sports and sightseeing, the school updates their activities programme with advice and tips, as well as the city’s events calendar on a weekly basis, to help you to live life in Munich to the fullest and to enjoy every moment. Beyond the boundaries of the city you will find the most beautiful countryside of Bavaria and a natural landscape of lakes, forests, mountains, castles and monasteries, all within an hour’s journey! Make sure you leave time for discovering this beautiful part of Europe.
Regular activities organised by the school include welcome parties, guided sightseeing tours of Munich, a visit to the BMW museum and Olympic tower, football tournaments, bowling and swimming in the Olympic pool at night, as well as day trips to nearby towns and cities such as to Regensburg, to Garmisch Partenkirchen or to the magical castle of Neuschwanstein. There are festivals throughout the year in the city and of course a visit to the world famous ‘Oktoberfest’!
