Oaxaca – a beautiful historic city

Many students looking for an authentic Mexican experience choose to learn Spanish in Oaxaca. The city of Oaxaca is a beautiful provincial capital, unspoilt by modern development. You’ll find quiet cobbled streets full of local craftsmen and artists at work, inspired by the beauty of the city’s architecture and setting. Oaxaca offers the perfect fusion of the old and the new – you’ll find a well-preserved Zapoteca site just 10 minutes’ drive from the city centre! If you’re lucky, your Spanish course in Oaxaca will coincide with one of the city’s many festivals. In July, you can enjoy the Guelaguetza Festival, a celebration of dance, when dancers toss presents to the watching crowds. Or, join in the week long celebrations of the Food of the Gods Festival in October, when locals prepare some of Oaxaca’s most famous dishes.

Our Spanish language school in Oaxaca is situated right in the historic heart of the city, just 2 minutes’ walk from the main square. The school building is in traditional Mexican style, with an internal patio – a great place to catch up with other students between classes! The school remains cool, even on the hottest days thanks to the thick stone walls and shaded patios. In addition to spacious classrooms, there’s a student cafeteria serving delicious snacks, plus free Internet access.

With a maximum group size of just 5 students per class, you’ll make good progress on a Spanish course at our school! In addition to our popular Standard and Intensive Spanish courses, you can also combine your group lessons with one-to-one lessons on an Executive Course. If you’ve only got a short time to spare, take a look at our One-to-One Spanish Course. You can choose from 20 or 30 lessons a week, focussing on topics that are important to you.

Cultural Activities

School excursion to nearby Zapoteca site

Our school organises a wide range of workshops and activities, such as Mexican cookery and Salsa dance classes. There are also parties and picnics, and excursions to historical sites such as the El Tule tree, famous for being the widest tree in the world. Please note that for some activities and excursions, there is an additional cost, to cover transport and entrance fees.
