Ravenna, situated just a short distance from the popular Adriatic Coast, has been capital of the Roman Empire, of the Gothic Kingdom and of the Byzantine Empire in Italy! This small, enchanting town is known today for the beautiful mosaics of this extraordinary heritage and for its collection of UNESCO World Heritage monuments.
Ravenna is full of the spirit of Italy and is a friendly, safe and peaceful place in which to study Italian, with easy access to the more famous artistic cites of Venice and Florence, to the beautiful beaches along the coast and surrounded by magnificent nature reserves and natural landscapes.
Aside from admiring the intricate and beautiful ancient mosaics of the Basilica in Ravenna, you can also visit Dante Alighieri’s tomb, as well as the little pile of rubble where local residents hid the poet´s urn during WWII to prevent it from being damaged!
Our school is located in a wonderfully restored, historic building, in the heart of Ravenna. There are 13 well-equipped classrooms with air conditioning, a library and study room, a lounge with drinks and snacks machines and a computer room with wireless internet access.
The group courses have a maximum of just 8 students per class, ensuring a friendly and welcoming learning environment with a great deal of individual student attention and participation. The teachers are all highly qualified, native Italian speakers with many years experience in teaching Italian to foreigners. All students receive a special discount card on arrival, which they can use in many shops in the centre of town.
You can opt for an Intensive Italian course (20 general classes per week), or a Combined course (20 general language lessons, plus 2 or 4 private classes per week).
We offer Private Italian courses with flexible hours, for students who have specific interests or requirements and there are also specialised courses available at our school in Ravenna, such as Italian and Cooking or Italian and Wine tasting for all students who are interested in adding a taste of Italy to their language programme!
The school offers accommodation with Italian host families, in shared apartments or in private studio apartments, all located within a few minutes walking distance of the school. In the shared apartments you will share the common areas with other international students.
Students who are looking for a total immersion experience and who wish to practise as much Italian as possible outside of their classes always choose to stay with an Italian host family for the additional advantage of getting to know the local people, using their language skills and learning more about daily life in Ravenna.
You will have plenty of opportunity to get to know your teachers and fellow students during the varied social and activities programme offered at the school. You can spend afternoons on the beach, take guided tours of the town, share pizza evenings and Italian film evenings with your friends, or practise your Italian and meet the locals in the many cafes and bars in the centre of Ravenna. The town hosts a wide range of cultural events, markets and antique fairs as well as several festivals throughout the year. There is also a lot on offer for sports enthusiasts, from water sports to bike hire, as well as cycling, horse riding and skydiving!
