Close to our school is the SAARA market, where you can buy everything imaginable, and right underneath the school is an inviting café – the perfect place to relax and socialise with classmates. Inside the air-conditioned school, you’ll find comfortable, well-equipped classrooms, a computer room, student common areas and a free wireless Internet connection.

Your Portuguese course in Rio de Janeiro

Consisting of 20 Portuguese lessons per week, our school’s Standard course covers every aspect of the language, from speaking to grammar. Classes take place in same-level groups, allowing you to meet lots of other students and practice your Portuguese with them!

You can complement the Standard course with six classes per week focusing on Business Portuguese, CELPE-Bras Exam Preparation or Brazilian Music. The Intensive course complements the group-based Standard course with 10 Private Lessons per week, lessons that will focus entirely upon improving your grasp of the language.

Never underestimate just how much your language skills can benefit from speaking to local people. Volunteer work not only gives you the chance to meet local cariocas, it also allows you to put something back into the community. Our school arranges volunteer work placements in teaching, youth work and conservation.

Accommodation in Rio de Janeiro

Live with the locals for complete immersion in the Portuguese language and Brazilian lifestyle! Our school offers accommodation with both host families and Brazilian hosts. Host families will provide you with one meal each day, whereas Brazilian host accommodation is on an entirely self-catering basis. Host families will play a more active role in helping you to settle in and practice your vocabulary, whilst living with a Brazilian host affords you more independence. Our school only works with the friendliest hosts and host families, and regularly checks the quality of accommodation.

We want you to have a great time whilst you learn Portuguese in Rio de Janeiro, so our school will arrange a whole program of extra-curricular activities for your stay. Typical activities include Brazilian movie nights, meals out with classmates, Samba lessons, museum trips and school parties. You’ll see the best of Rio, including sights such as Cristo Redentor, the celebrated Modern Art Museum, Rio’s picturesque Botanical Gardens and the famous Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Our school will gladly collect you from the airport, but this service is not included with your Portuguese course in Rio de Janeiro.
