Spanish course in Salamanca

Located in the northwestern part of central Spain, close to the border with Portugal and away from mainstream tourism, Salamanca is known as the “golden city”. The buildings are made of sandstone and as the sun sets over the city they have a radiant glow of gold, orange and pink, which has given Salamanca this name! The city is known to be one of the most beautiful in Spain, rich in history, architecture and gastronomy. The 18th Century ‘Plaza Mayor’ and the House of Shells, together with the University of Salamanca and the old Cathedral are the most well-known attractions in the city for visiting students and tourists alike. You can explore Salamanca on foot, as all of the main attractions are close to one other.

The area’s reputation for speaking a pure form of Spanish, together with Salamanca’s reputation for learning, thanks to its internationally renowned university, mean that this is an ideal location for your Spanish course. As you immerse yourself in the local culture and daily life, Salamanca’s friendly locals will enjoy helping you to improve your language skills in the cafes, bars, shops, terraces and restaurants.

Courses

There is a maximum of 10 students per class in the group courses in our Salamanca (Premium) school and each class is 55 minutes in duration. All teachers have degrees in philology and many years experience teaching Spanish to foreign students.

Choose to attend the Intensive or the Super-Intensive course, consisting of 20 or 30 lessons per week, to improve your re general Spanish in all areas of the language. For students who are looking for smaller class sizes, there is also a Mini-Group course (with a maximum of just 5 students per group).

Take the Exam preparation course to ensure that you pass the DELE examination, or choose a 4-week course specialising in Spanish for Business. The Business Spanish course is designed for students of economics and tourism, or for companies or executives who work or are planning to work in a Spanish-speaking environment! Private Spanish classes are of course also available, for all students who would prefer one-to-one lessons and a tailor-made programme.

Accommodation

Accommodation in Salamanca is available in self-catering, shared student apartments, with Spanish host families, or in the student residence building. All of the accommodation is within walking distance of the school.

From a language-learning point of view, living with a host family is the best option, as you will have the chance to practise your Spanish every day after your classes and also at the weekends, which will greatly improve your vocabulary and pronunciation!

Cultural programme

There is a wide range of interesting and enjoyable activities, visits and excursions organised by the school. Some are free of charge and others are available at a small extra cost.

There are many art museums in the city and you can also visit the theatre, concerts, or lectures at the university. The school organises a guided tour of the city every month, as well as seminars each week on topics in Spanish history, literature, art and on the regions of Spain. There are film evenings in the school and sports activities available throughout the year. You can choose to take classes in traditional Spanish dance, or to join weekend excursions to Madrid, Segovia, Zamora and Toledo!

On the last day of the month all students take part in a farewell dinner, as a nice way to end your Spanish course and your stay in the beautiful golden city of Spain!
