Favourite places:
Favourites would be Barcelona, Oaxaca, and Rome. Top of them all? Rome, I think, because it's amazing; it's beautiful with so much history, unending list of fascinating places / buildings / areas to visit that you can go back time after time and still not feel you've seen it all; real character with the bustle of a big city, the effortless sophistication and style of the Italians, and the laid back Mediterranean attitude revolving around coffees and meals; loads of great restaurants, cafes, and bars where you can spend hours sitting outside with friends just enjoying the sunshine and soaking up the atmosphere!
General interests:
Photography, food (both cookery and eating out), travel, and languages!
Personal Statement:
I was brought up in Brussels, where you are constantly surrounded by people speaking different languages. I always get excited by the sound of other languages being spoken, even though I hear them every day! I love the diversity and cultural backdrop that they can provide; they add an element of interest and a depth that I find incomparable to anything else. I also get a real thrill from going somewhere new and being able to understand and speak the language being spoken around me, particularly if I'm far from home! Travelling is amazing, but travelling with languages really opens the world to you, connecting you with the peoples and the cultures on a whole new level.
