Walk along the promenade to the marina, with spectacular views of the sea on one side, and a wealth of splendid architecture on the other side. Stop in a café or taverna to sample the regional delicacies, such as prosciutto di San Daniele. Trieste is famous for its excellent fish, and its ideal conditions for water sports. Windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing are all popular here, and throughout the year Trieste's coast becomes crowded with sailing ships taking part in various races and regattas.

Our Trieste school is open from early June to early October. Make the most of the summer sun on great beaches, just along the coast from Trieste. Only five minutes away by bus is the distinctive Miramare castle, built teetering over the sea by the Austrians, who once controlled this region. Trieste enjoys a great location, close to Austria and Slovenia, and Venice is just two hours to the west.

The Convento di Santa Maria Maggiore in Trieste, located in the historic old town, is home to our school and on-site residence. It is a truly unique and atmospheric setting, with grand hallways and vaulted ceilings. Comfortable, spacious classrooms afford you magnificent sea views whilst you study Italian! There is also a library, with DVDs for rent, and free WI-FI Internet access throughout the school.

Italian courses in Trieste

You'll learn Italian in Trieste with native Italian teachers, all with years of experience. We have a flexible range of courses on offer, so you can tailor your course to suit your needs!

• Intensive Italian course
  Our intensive Italian course gives you 20 Italian lessons each week, Monday to Friday. This course has an average of just 8-10 students per class, so classes are small enough to guarantee you lots of attention from teachers, but large enough to allow student interaction. You'll be taught by two teachers, which exposes you to different dialects and different teaching methods.
• Combined Italian course
  This course combines the intensive Italian course of 20 lessons, and five private Italian lessons per week. The private lessons will reinforce what you have learnt in group lessons, and allow you time to concentrate on any particular areas you may be having difficulties with.
• Combined Italian course (intensive)
  If you're eager to learn Italian quickly, take a Combined Italian Course in Trieste with 20 group lessons and 10 one-to-one lessons every week.
• Private Lessons
  With a course of Private Lessons at our Trieste school, you have complete freedom to choose how many lessons you have each week, and what form the lessons take. The curriculum will even be based upon your interests, so the course is completely customized!

Accommodation in Trieste

Stay in our on-site residence and enjoy the convenience of living next to your classroom. Sharing a kitchen with other Italian language students from our school, you'll soon have new friends from all over the world! Bedrooms are large, some have en-suite bathrooms and you'll have a view of the old town's picturesque harbour. Our on-site residence also has WI FI Internet access.

Choose host family accommodation if you really want to experience Italian culture and practice your language skills daily! Host families live no further than 20 minutes away from the school.

If you'd prefer, our Trieste school can also arrange accommodation for you in a city centre apartment.

Whatever option you decide upon, you can rest assured that our school has carefully selected and checked your accommodation, making sure that every aspect is up to standard.

Cultural program in Trieste

Activity organizers at our Trieste school work hard to provide you with an interesting and varied cultural program. Firstly, you'll have a guided tour of Trieste, helping to familiarize you with the city. On other half-day visits, you'll see the remarkable Miramare castle and its gardens, and the Grotta Gigante, the largest cave in the world open to tourists. Get to know teachers and your fellow students during afternoons on the beach, on boat trips to Duino and Muggia, and as you enjoy evening aperitifs!

Full-day excursions are also included in the activities itinerary. Taste some delicious local wines at the Collio vineyards, and explore the extremely well-preserved Roman artifacts and mosaics at Aquileia.
