Our Spanish language school in Vejer de la Frontera is a small family-run school with over 30 years of experience. It is situated in a beautiful and traditional Andalusian building, just minutes away from the Costa de la Luz beach.
The school building has five classrooms, an interior patio, and a kitchen. You will also find a roof-top terrace with spectacular views across to the old town and over the surrounding countryside and free WiFi throughout. The school, at the heart of the village, has a friendly and authentic atmosphere, which helps students to relax and enjoy their time in Vejer. Many return here again and again.

Vejer de la Frontera is an incredibly beautiful Andalusian village with traditional whitewashed buildings and narrow, winding streets, which is completely unspoilt by international tourism. Located at the top of a hill, Vejer has spectacular views over the surrounding countryside and coastline, and on a clear day it is even possible to see the coast of Morocco!
Vejer, voted the second most beautiful village in Spain, owes its allure to its special location, historic charm, and the previously mentioned iconic whitewashed buildings. The village boasts a vibrant cultural scene, hosting numerous festivals and events which our Spanish school actively involves students in. During your course in Vejer, you'll also have the opportunity to indulge in the town's gastronomic delights, including its renowned local tapas and wines. The central square, Plaza de España, is adorned with palm trees and features a quirky fountain where ceramic frogs spout water! The village also offers numerous cafes, bars, and restaurants and serves as an ideal setting to practice Spanish or simply watch the world go by.
The nearby beaches at El Palmar are considered to be one of the best surf spots on the Atlantic Coast, and the wide sandy beaches are ideal for surfing beginners and more experienced surfers alike! Caños de Meca Beach is another beloved destination, bustling with people and activities and particularly enjoyed by windsurfers. All of the coastline near Vejer offers a delightful retreat for post-Spanish class relaxation and weekend enjoyment.

Available courses
You can learn Spanish on the most popular general Intensive Spanish course consisting of 20 group lessons per week, held from Monday to Friday. Classes take place in the morning and combine Spanish grammar with conversation, reading and writing. The small classes at our school allow students to develop their Spanish skills quickly in a fun, interactive and supportive environment.
If you want to develop your Spanish language skills at a faster rate, then choose the Super Intensive course which consists of 30 lessons per week. Here you will follow the same schedule as the Intensive programme but will have an additional 10 Spanish lessons per week which can be tailored to your requirements. You may wish to study Spanish for professional reasons or work towards your future studies such as preparing for the DELE Diploma.
If you don’t want to make progress in a group setting or have a very particular set of requirements, then choose Private Lessons for a completely tailored and flexible programme of one-to-one lessons. You can book these as a package of 5, 10, 20 or 30 lessons per week. The Duo Course gives you the opportunity to learn Spanish in pairs in a duo-private lesson. If you have a similar level of Spanish to your partner or friend and both want to improve your level quickly and in confidence, then this is the course for you!
If you want a more active afternoon in Vejer you can combine the morning lessons with golf, horse riding, surfing, or Flamenco! The Intensive + Golf course gives you a Greenfee pass to Montenmedio Golf course for a leisurely afternoon. The Montenmedio golf course (18 holes and par 72) is just 5km from Vejer and surrounded by forests of wild olive, cork oak and pine trees. It has impressive views of the Atlantic and of the African coast of tangiers and Espartel.
The Intensive + Horse Riding programme offers three horse riding sessions per week, and you can choose as many weeks as you wish. The riding school is located just outside Vejer, and transport is provided. The horse-riding instructor will tailor the class to the student levels, ensuring a great experience. More experienced riders can combine Spanish lessons with three weekly riding routes, exploring various landscapes and times of day.
Our Spanish and surfing course in Vejer is known as Intensive + Surfing as it combines 20 Spanish lessons with three surf lessons each week. The surf lessons are held at the El Palmar Beach and transport to and from the beach as well as surf boards and wetsuits are provided, so there will be plenty of time for you to take advantage of the waves and the Costa de la Luz sunshine.
Our school also runs a very popular Intensive + Flamenco course, combining 20 Spanish language lessons and 3 flamenco dance lessons each week. Accommodation
Available accommodation
For complete immersion in the Spanish language, we recommend Host Family accommodation. The local Spanish family will not only share their home but also their way of life and traditions, giving you lots of extra Spanish practice. Families are chosen based on their location, the quality of the lodging, furnishings, and food. Meals will be provided by your host, giving you the opportunity to try real Spanish cooking. You can choose between half-board (two meals each day) or full board (three meals each day). Your host family will also provide a weekly laundry service and you will have your own keys to come and go as you please.
The Shared Apartment option in Vejer is a great way to mix with other international students, make new friends and enjoy the Spanish lifestyle with a little more independence than a host. Our school offers accommodation in houses or flats that have been carefully selected. The apartments include single or double rooms up to a maximum of six students from the school. All accommodation is in walking distance, fully furnished with a washing machine, WiFi and equipped kitchen.
Alternatively, we can arrange accommodation for you in a private Studio Apartment. Both the shared apartment and studio apartment accommodation options are offered on a self-catering basis and within easy walking distance of the school. For complete independence you will have a fully equipped kitchen, one double bedroom and bathroom. All the expenses such as water, electricity and WiFi are included and bed linen and towels are provided.
Accommodation in Vejer is available from the Sunday before the Spanish course starts until the Saturday after the course ends.
Activities
Our school in Vejer de la Frontera, like most of our schools in Spain, organises an extensive range of social, sport and cultural activities in the afternoons and at the weekends. These activities include horse riding, beach trips, windsurfing, paragliding, scuba diving, snorkelling, as well as excursions to Cadiz, Seville, Cordoba and Morocco.
Our activity programme is designed to make the most of the stunning and authentic Spanish location. Trips to nearby Andalucian cities and beaches run alongside traditional Spanish cooking afternoons, tapas tours of restaurants and bodegas (ruta de tapas), inspiring flamenco evenings, Spanish cinema, exploring Roman ruins and more. The activities offered in Vejer are great fun, as well as an ideal way to practice outside the classroom the Spanish that you learn on the course together with locals and classmates, whilst making new friends from all over the world.
How to get there
The closest airport to Vejer is Jerez, but students can also fly to Seville or Malaga Airports. Airports transfers are available to your accommodation on arrival.

Our profesora was empathetic and aware of weaknesses in our language learning that needed addressing. The classes were the right mixture of conversation and grammar and fun to boot! It was clear that Maria Jose enjoyed her job.
My accommodation was conveniently near to our school, which was a bonus. Very kind hostess who made us welcome, introduced us to other members of the family and went out of her way to provide good food and talk as much as possible to us in Spanish, correcting us when necessary in a light-hearted way. Good accommodation for getting under the skin of the culture.
We took advantage of a trip to a vineyard using the school's transport, and though interesting and enjoyable, we were a little disappointed not to be offered a small tasting of the wines produced.
