Located in Tuscany, Viareggio is a wonderful seaside town in which to learn Italian. There are many festivals and carnivals held in the town every year, attracting hundreds of Italians and tourists alike. The town is otherwise small and quiet – a great place to relax and learn Italian whilst enjoying the local cuisine! The long, white and beautiful beaches stretch for miles and the Apuan Alps are also nearby – these mountains being famous for their marble-like look. Viareggio is also popular for its nightlife, offering students many original options and the bars along the seafront are particularly inviting!
At our Italian school in Viareggio there is an inviting and relaxed atmosphere. Please note that the school is open each year only during the summertime, from the end of June until the beginning of September, so a perfect location for an Italian course, combined with a holiday. Our fully qualified teachers are all native speakers of Italian who will help you to learn as much Italian as possible in the time you have available. The school building is located near the town centre, only a short walk from the beach and has 18 classrooms with audiovisual equipment. There is free WiFi available to all students in the school.
Students can choose to stay in carefully selected Italian host families, or in self-catering apartments, shared with other international students. There are single and twin rooms available. All accommodation is located within walking distance of the school.
It is generally easier to progress with your Italian language skills when you are staying with an Italian host family, as you are likely to have more chance to practise what you have learned in class with the native people and of course you have the chance to make life-long Italian friends and connections. Of course, for those who prefer to live together with international students, then a shared apartment is the best choice.
There are a variety of optional activities and visits in the afternoons/evenings, or at the weekend, organised by our school. These include dinners, wine-tastings, guided tours to local monuments and places of interest, film evenings and excursions. The cultural programme helps students to further their knowledge of Italian life and culture, as well as to thoroughly enjoy themselves and have fun!
Fly to Pisa International Airport and you can take the train to Viareggio (15 minutes journey). Airport transfers also available on request.
