Young student courses in Antibes

13-17 years

Programme includes:

  • 20 or 26 French language lessons per week in groups with a maximum of 15 students per class
  • Course materials
  • Fully-supervised activities programme including sports and excursions
  • Full board accommodation with a carefully selected host family or in an on-site residence
  • Airport transfers from/to Nice Airport or Antibes Train Station

Nearly 50 beaches line the coast surrounding Antibes and Juan-les-Pins, making it the ideal location for a French course for young students by the sea! A stunning town on the Côte d’Azur, Antibes has a youthful vibe and relaxed atmosphere that teenagers seem to love, yet retains its distinctive Provençal flavour, offering students a taste of the ‘real’ France.

Wander the cobbled streets of the old town, browsing the stalls overflowing with ripe cheeses and colourful fruits and vegetables before visiting the Château Grimaldi, home to the Picasso Museum (the artist made the château his home for six months during 1946). From here, a short walk will take you to Port Vauban, one of Europe’s largest marinas, where the yachts have to be seen to be believed!

The school has a few centres which it uses for the courses for young students. During the summer, these are secure campuses set within their own private grounds, with excellent facilities including a swimming pool and sports grounds! Outside of the summer months, lessons are held at the main school building, which is just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre and beaches.

Young student courses in Antibes

There is a choice of two courses at our school in Antibes for young students. The ‘Intensive’ course of 20 group lessons per week is generally the most popular, as this provides the best balance between classroom and free time. However, if you need to make the most progress possible during your stay, you may prefer the ‘Super-Intensive’ course of 26 lessons per week.

On arrival at the school, you will take a level test which our colleagues will use to make sure that you are placed in the most suitable group with students of a similar level. This will mean that you are constantly working on improving your overall level of French. Lessons are conducted in French from the outset, to allow for total immersion. This will help improve your listening and comprehension skills. In addition, throughout your time in Antibes you will be encouraged to speak French as much as possible and this should really help to improve your confidence in speaking! Of course, your lessons will cover all aspects of the language.

Accommodation

Our school in Antibes offers a choice of two accommodation types. Residence accommodation is a nice, social accommodation, as you will share a room with 2 or 3 other young students. Lessons normally take place on-site, so you really won’t have far to travel!

Host family accommodation is also a very nice option, especially for students of your age. Of course, host families do live in different areas, so it is likely that you will need to take public transport to and from the school. However, your hosts really will welcome you into their home and will treat you as a member of the family. You will be encouraged to speak French with them and this extra practice is truly invaluable.

Whichever accommodation type you choose, you will be provided with all your meals.

Activities

Activities are offered on a daily basis and have been designed especially with students of your age in mind! The general activities programme is included in the course price and examples of typical activities include barbecues, discos, sports (badminton, beach volleyball, soccer, table tennis, basketball etc.), excursions to Marineland and Monaco. The school also offers one session of sailing per week.

Students do have some free time, in which they are allowed to visit the beach or the centre (the school provides a shuttle bus for students staying in residence accommodation). However, during your free time, you would be welcome to add additional activities, such as kayaking, mini-golf, trips to Cannes etc. (please note that these optional activities do incur a small additional charge).

Students staying in the residence will also have evening activities most days.

Supervision

Students are fully supervised on this programme, whether they are in lessons, on activities or in their accommodation. The school do also impose curfews on students, which vary slightly depending on the age of the students and the accommodation they are staying in. The going out permission is usually as follows:

For students staying in a host family:

  • 13-15 years: No permission to go out unaccompanied after 19.30 except on Monday for the barbecue party (until 23.00) and Friday for a party at the school (until 23.00)
  • 16-17 years: Mandatory evening permission 2 evenings during the week (Monday and Wednesday or Monday and Tuesday) until 23.00 and on Fridays, Saturdays and days before a public holiday until 01.00

For students staying in student residence accommodation:

  • 13-15 years: No permission to go out un accompanied after 19.30
  • 16-17 years:
    • Option 1 – No permission to go out unaccompanied after 19.30
    • Option 2 – Permission to go out unaccompanied one evening during the week (Tuesday or Wednesday) until 23.00 and permission to go out unaccompanied on Fridays, Saturdays and days before a public holiday until 01.00

Airport transfers

Students arriving on the Sunday before their course starts and departing the Saturday after their course finishes can take advantage of the complementary airport transfer from Nice Airport or Antibes Train Station.
