Bristol is a large city in southwest England, with all that a multi-cultural, lively and friendly destination has to offer. There are many places of interest in and around the city centre, including museums, shopping centres, a fantastic zoo and a huge choice of cafes and restaurants. The city is famous for its architecture, for its music scene, for the internationally renowned suspension bridge, for summer festivals, theatre and many visual arts programmes.
The school is located in the safe, residential area of Clifton in Bristol and easy to reach with public transport. Facilities include spacious classrooms, interactive whiteboards, free internet access and a large private garden for student parties and barbecues.
Our Young Students’ course is a summer programme of 20 general English classes per week, with optional additional private tuition, or specialist programmes in the afternoons (Drama, Photography, Journalism and Film making). In addition, the school offers an exciting calendar of cultural activities and visits each day, with excursions at the weekend. Students who wish to attend this programme need to have an elementary level of English. You will study with other students of the same age group and language level.
The focus on the course is to improve your overall level of English, using modern and interactive teaching methods and interesting and relevant resources. There is a lot of emphasis on communication and practical use of the language to help you to gain confidence whilst developing your English knowledge and skills. The classes are fun and interesting, incorporating many games, role plays and there is a cultural programme of activities every day.
You will stay with a carefully selected English host family, on a full-board basis, where all your meals will be provided, including a packed lunch in the middle of the day. Please mention any special dietary requirements or allergies at the time of your booking. Staying with a friendly and caring host family gives you a great opportunity to practise your English and to get to know the culture and way of life in England. All of the host families live close to the school and in safe, residential areas. There is free WiFi internet access enabling you to keep in touch with your friends and family during your stay.
The school’s activities centre is located just 2 minutes’ walk from the school and so students can feel relaxed, with all of the amenities close at hand. Activities are organised every afternoon and evening during the week and include such things as sports, ice-skating, drama, talent shows, cinema nights, discos and regular barbecue parties in the large garden.
There is a half-day and a full-day excursion each week. Examples of typical destinations include Bath, Oxford, Cardiff, Stonehenge and London – the capital city of England is located only 90 minutes away on the train.
There are members of staff available at all times to support students, whether it is during the class times, or during the afternoon and evening activities programme. There is also one teacher or supervisor for every 15-20 students during the excursions to other cities or places of interest around Bristol.
You can arrive into Bristol International Airport, or into Heathrow or Gatwick airports in London. Airport transfers are not included in the course price, but can be requested on your arrival, to take you directly to your host family accommodation.
