Chichester is a small town in south-east England known for it’s Roman history and beautiful 11th-century cathedral. The town is peaceful, surrounded by ancient walls and containing many independent shops, designer boutiques, stylish restaurants and street cafés. Chichester is the culture centre of this part of England, boasting a theatre, museum and 2 art galleries. It is a safe and charming place to learn English.
Our summer school building is based in a campus of the University of Chichester, just a short walk from the town centre and surrounded by beautiful parks and gardens. There are facilities for volleyball, football, basketball, netball and other sports. The students common room is the meeting point for all of the afternoon activities and a place for students to relax and get to know each other. There is a corner where students can help themselves to free tea, water and fruit throughout the day.
The summer course for young students consists of 15 or 20 general English classes each week, complemented with a diverse and exciting activities programme every day. The classes are held in the mornings and there is normally a maximum of 15 students per group. The school also offers a mini-group programme as an alternative, where you will receive highly individualised and tailor-made English lessons in groups of just 4 students maximum. Regardless of the intensity of the programme you choose, or the size of the class, you will be placed in exactly the correct group according to your language level on the first day of the programme. The native teachers are highly qualified, enthusiastic and motivated, with years of experience in teaching English to Young Students. They are dedicated to ensure that the lessons are dynamic, fun and interesting, with the main focus to improve your communication skills and develop your confidence in speaking English.
The residence accommodation is situated on campus and you can choose to stay in a single room with en-suite bathroom facilities, or in a standard single or shared room with shared bathroom facilities. All meals are provided in the school’s own self-service dining hall on campus.
There is a wide range of supervised activities as part of the summer course during the afternoons and evenings, 7 days a week! Students can choose between several activities in the afternoons such as: A walk through the town, welcome meetings, quizzes, campus sports activities and tournaments, arts & crafts or health & nutrition workshops. There are also talents shows, international parties, film evenings and games nights in the large student lounge. The school organises fortnightly excursions to interesting places and tourist sights near to Chichester, such as to Portsmouth, Winchester, London, Brighton and Bath. All of the activities are included in the course fees and are compulsory for students aged 13 and younger. Some additional activities are also available at a small extra cost and the full programme will be available in advance of the start of your course.
There is always at least one supervisor for every 15 Young Students, whether during your English classes, or during the afternoon or evening programme of activities and excursions. The school employs a helpful, caring and international team, guaranteeing the security and supervision of our Young Students.
