Ibiza is one of the most popular Mediterranean havens for international young students and tourists alike, offering all that a wonderful island destination has to offer, a fantastic climate and a huge selection of cultural and sightseeing opportunities, sports, leisure, beach time and, of course, entertainment facilities, in the most beautiful surroundings. Ibiza town is now a UNESCO world heritage site in addition to many other parts of Ibiza, now protected from further development and commercialisation.
Our summer Spanish programme for young adults from the ages of 16 to 20 years old is orientated towards the needs of young people in today’s demanding and ever-developing multicultural world. Students will have the chance to combine a high quality Spanish language course with an exciting activities programme, enabling them to get to know each other and the island of Ibiza, to practise their language skills and to have a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
The language course for 16 to 20 year olds is a specifically designed general Spanish intensive programme of 4 classes each day from Monday to Friday, in groups of no more than 12 students per class. The course is aimed at students who have already studied some Spanish in school (elementary level), however absolute beginners may also book a beginners’ course on special request. The course is popular with students of all nationalities and the groups are separated according to Spanish level on arrival. The classes are entertaining, interesting and dynamic, with a focus on helping the students to develop their communication skills and their confidence in speaking Spanish, in all types of everyday situations. The school´s activity leaders are there to supervise and to offer support throughout the extensive programme of activities and excursions.
All students aged 18 to 20 can choose to stay with a Spanish host family, or in shared rooms either in the school´s own residence building, or in a student apartment. The residence is located just 5 minutes from the school and contains private apartments for 4 students who are travelling together. This type of accommodation offers en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, TV, a 24-hour reception and includes use of a fitness room and a private pool!
The shared apartments are also for those students aged 18 years and above and consist of single, double or triple bedrooms, with a shared kitchen and bathroom. This type of accommodation is ideal for students who are looking to be totally independent, but who are willing to communicate and get on well with fellow international students in the same apartment.
Students aged 16 or 17 can only stay with Spanish host families, on a full-board basis. All of the host families are welcoming and friendly, with years of experience in housing international students. You have the added advantage of being able to practise your Spanish outside of the classrooms and to get to know the natives and the Spanish way-of-life in Ibiza! Single and shared rooms are available.
The beautiful island of Ibiza has so much to offer and students can enjoy the natural surroundings and explore many parts of the town and the rest of the island in their free time. For example, hundreds of visitors flock to the wharf side festival, where you can find numerous colourful stalls filled with local souvenirs, all kind of fresh foods and spices with incredible scents, enticing handicrafts and all kinds of other goods. There are many other attractions within Ibiza town or in the surrounding countryside, as well as endless options for sports and water sports, or you can relax on any one of Ibiza’s 54 beaches!
The school´s own cultural programme is not obligatory, but will offer all students the extra chance to get to know each other and Ibiza better, whilst relaxing and having fun. The programme includes five activities every 2 weeks, with two activities each week and one weekend excursion, accompanied by a member of the school’s staff. There are orientation tours around the town, welcome parties for newcomers, grilled sardine dinners, museum visits, trips to a water park and island hoping adventures. The weekend excursion regularly involves an excursion to the neighbouring spectacular island of Formentera!
The well-being and the security of the young adults is of the highest priority at our school in Ibiza. However, students are allowed plenty of free-time. Those under the age of 18 will need a consent form signed by their parents or guardians and we ask students to respect the curfew and to be back at their host family accommodation by midnight during the week and by 1.00am at the weekends. There is a 24-hour emergency phone number that all students will carry with them and which is also available to their families. There is a 24-hour reception in the school’s residence building.
An airport transfer service on arrival and departure into Ibiza is included in the cost of the programme.
