Malaga, on the Costa del Sol, offers our Young Students a wonderful beach location in which to learn Spanish and enjoy a holiday at the same time! The open and friendly people of Malaga enjoy a relaxed life-style in a beautiful location. Our school offers excellent quality facilities and a truly wonderful balance of tuition and leisure time, so that you can thoroughly enjoy your summer in the sun! The city offers many things to see and do, including the wonderful cathedral of Malaga and the Arab castle on the hill. In this part of Spain you will find all things typical of Andalucía, including white-washed villages, Flamenco music and dancing, historic towns with architectural heritage, blue skies and sandy beaches! The school´s cultural activities programme gives you the chance to discover many of these things and more!
Our summer school building is based on its own private campus, with on-site student residence, pool and 24-hour reception. There are 25 classrooms, a self-access multi-media room, a dance studio and a cafeteria, as well as free WiFi access throughout the campus. The campus is located within walking distance of the beach and only 15 minutes by bus from the centre of Malaga.
The summer course for 16 – 20 year olds is available for 2, 4 or 6 weeks, with 3 hours of classes per day and a diverse programme of activities, as well as plenty of free-time for socialising and getting to know the city and your fellow students. The teaching method and course materials are especially adapted to suit the age-group and the teachers are highly-qualified, native speakers, with many years of teaching experience. Normally, the Spanish classes are held in the late afternoons, leaving the mornings free for sports and activities and for discovering Malaga via tours, visits and excursions.
The on-site residence accommodation is the most popular type of accommodation amongst our students. Here you will have a single or twin room with en-suite bathroom facilities and use of the pool and sun terraces, as well as the cafeteria, bar and gardens. There is a 24-hour reception area as well as telephones and laundry facilities.
Flexible students who are looking for the chance to get to know the local people and to practise their Spanish as much as possible can opt to stay with a Spanish host family, on a half-board basis. Most of the families live within walking distance of the school. Students over the age of 18 can choose to stay in a self-catering shared apartment, also located within walking distance of the campus. There are 2 types of apartments available, with the price differences related to the quality of the facilities and furnishings in the apartment, as well as its distance from the school.
There are many different types of activities available, often in the mornings and in the afternoons before class, to cater for all kinds of interests. There is a member of staff dedicated to the activities programme, who is also responsible for the Young Students during their stay and available for any queries or help. 1 full-day excursion is included in the programme every 2 weeks and otherwise the activities on offer include such things as: beach sports and games, tours of the town, tapas evenings in the historic centre of the city, cookery classes, visit to the Picasso museum, visits to a nearby water world park and a visit to the bull-fighting museum.
Students under the age of 18 will need to complete a specific parental permission form, as students are not usually supervised during their free time. However, there is always a member of staff with the students during the social activities programme and there is also a 24-hour reception on campus.
It is possible to book an airport transfer service from/to Malaga International Airport, however this is not included in the cost of the programme.
