accommodation (full board during the week, half board at weekends)
Radolfzell is a charming town on the banks of Lake Constance and a great place to discover the ‘real’ Germany! A picturesque, safe and peaceful town, Radolfzell is the ideal location for a German course for young students. Its setting, between mountains and lake also make it an excellent destination for adventure sport enthusiasts. Whether you enjoy canoeing, climbing, hiking or sailing, you can do all of these in Radolfzell and the surrounding area.
Our German course for young students takes place in lovely building overlooking the historic centre. A small, friendly school, facilities include 8 classrooms, a small cafeteria and a computer room.
You will have 20 German lessons per week and German will be the only language spoken in class from the outset. This is to provide you with total immersion. You do not need to worry about understanding the lessons, as you will be placed in a group with students of a similar level to yourself and your teacher will tailor the content to meet the level and requirement of the group. As well as being experienced in teaching German as a foreign language to students of your age, your teacher will also be a fully-qualified native speaker.
You will cover all aspects of the language, so as to improve your overall level of German. However, you can expect to do lots of speaking and listening, as there will be an emphasis on the everyday, practical usage of the language.
You can choose to stay with a carefully selected host family, or in a student residence. Whichever option you choose, your accommodation will be provided on a full board basis during the week and on a half board basis at the weekend. Accommodation is usually located within 20 minutes of the school on foot or by public transport.
Host family accommodation would normally be our recommendation, as this will give you lots more practice at speaking German on an everyday basis with native speakers!
Afternoon and evening activities will be arranged three times per week, usually on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturdays you will usually have a full-day excursion (please note that this is not included in the course price and will incur an additional charge). Our colleagues will let you know what exact activities they have planned for you on arrival at the school, but some examples of typical activities include treasure hunts, guided tours of the city, canoeing, swimming, visits to museums and other local places of interest, climbing and sailing on the lake to name but a few. Excursions are usually to places such as Stuttgart, Freiburg or Holiday Park Rust.
Full supervision will be provided when you are in lessons, on activities and in your accommodation. You will be required to respect the curfew, which is 22.00 (host families may set an earlier curfew).
Included in the course price is a return airport transfer from Zurich Airport.
