Programme includes:

  • 25 Spanish lessons per week (max. 12 students per class)
  • Full board accommodation with a carefully selected host family
  • Course materials
  • Certificate of attendance
  • Full-day excursion at the weekend to places such as Bilbao, Biarritz, Pamplona and Vitoria
  • Three afternoon activities per week (examples include: sports, picnics, pintxo tours, trips to museums, bike tours etc.)

San Sebastian is the glittering jewel of the Basque country in Spain’s north-western corner. Perched on the Bay of Biscay, this is a spectacular setting for your Spanish course and perfect for young students of your age (14-17 years). A stunning city, boasting fine architecture, San Sebastian is one of the gastronomic capitals of Europe and is home to the pintxo, Northern Spain’s version of tapas.

As well as all the cultural and foodie attractions that this city has to offer, one of the main draws for our students is the stunning beaches and excellent surfing, which you can take advantage of by adding some surf lessons to your Spanish course.

This school offers excellent facilities for young students, including 18 classrooms (all with air-conditioning), a multimedia room, a library, computers with Internet access and wireless Internet access throughout, as well as a lovely terrace which is perfect for enjoying a quick drink or snack in between lessons.

Young student courses in San Sebastian

This is a very well established programme and so both the teachers and monitors are very experienced in welcoming students of your age to San Sebastian! Over the years, the programme has been designed specifically for students of your age group, so you can be sure that your lessons will be fun and engaging, using interesting course materials and educational games. You will generally focus on improving your communication in Spanish, which means that there will be lots of speaking and listening. However, you will still cover all aspects so as to improve your overall level.

You will have 25 lessons per week, which equates to 5 lessons per day from Monday to Friday. The last lesson of each day will be dedicated to a practical project (such as a song, short dramatisation, interview etc.) which will be presented to your teachers and fellow students on Friday.

Your teachers will all be native Spanish speakers and will all be educated to a university level. In addition, they will be fully qualified to teach Spanish as foreign language to international students and, most importantly, will be experienced in teaching teenagers.

Accommodation

During your course, you will stay with a very carefully selected host family who will live within walking distance or easy journey by bus to the language school. Your hosts will be native Spanish speakers who are well known to our colleagues at the school who visit them regularly to ensure that they continue to offer accommodation that is suitable for teenagers. They will be friendly and welcoming and will treat you as a member of the family. They will encourage you to practice speaking Spanish with them, as they will only communicate with you in Spanish. This really is the best way to put into practice what you learn at school!

Your hosts will provide you with all your meals, so please do let us know in advance if you have any allergies or special dietary requirements.

Activities

Even more opportunities to practice speaking Spanish will come from the school’s special activities programme, which is included in the course price. Afternoon activities are arranged three times per week (usually Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and some examples include trips to museums, bike tours, sports, picnics, pintxo tours and treasure hunts amongst others. A full-day excursion is usually arranged each Saturday to places such as Bilbao, Pamplona or Vitoria.

You can choose to add some surf lessons to your Spanish course. These surf lessons usually take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Supervision

You will be fully supervised during your time at our school for young students in San Sebastian, to ensure that you remain safe and secure during the time that you are studying there. You will need to make your own way from the accommodation to the school, although this should be a fairly easy journey and your hosts will be pleased to explain this to you. If you do not opt for additional surf lessons, then you will have some free time on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Sunday is normally free also, although students do usually spend this day with their hosts.

Airport Transfers

Airport transfers are not included in the course price simply because there are several airports in the vicinity. This service can be arranged for an additional charge from San Sebastian, Biarritz or Bilbao Airports.
